Eating epilepsy is a rare form of reflex epilepsy where seizures are triggered by eating. We describe a case series of 12 such patients presenting to our epilepsy clinic based in North India. Eating epilepsy was noted to have male predominance with focal seizures with impaired awareness. In 1984, 13 cases of eating epilepsy were reported in South India. This was regularly reported in Sri Lanka. Recently, six patients with eating epilepsy were studied in depth using MRI, single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scan, and video encephalogram (EEG) from NIMHANS, and the presence of lesions around the perisylvian area has been identified. There might be involvement of complex neuronal circuits around the Sylvian fissure (near area of the face) responsible for eating epilepsy
